The region of Worodougou

PRESENTATION

The region of Worodougou with Seguela as chief town is comprised in the district of Woroba, along with the districts of Bafing and Bere. This region is attractive because of the wealth of its culture and nature.

POPULATION

Ethnic groups like Malinke, Mahou, Koyaka and Toura belonging to the Mande people live in perfect harmony in the district of Woroba.

TOURIST SITES AND ATTRACTIONS

Touba

Mount Sangbe National Park
One of the five largest parks in Côte d’Ivoire is the Sangbe National Park which covers an area of ​​95,000 hectares. It is so large that one part (northern one) finds itself in the Bafing region next to the villages of Bonzo and Sorotana. It extends from the Tonkpi region to the Bafing.

The park's wildlife comprises elephants, buffaloes, antelopes and monkeys.

El Hadj Moussa BAKAYOKO’s Mausoleum
This place of recollection is located within the village. The grave is covered with crushed gravel sand and is surrounded by four walls about 1 to 1.5 m height with an entrance.

Mema FEBOUKE’s Mausoleum in Toutie
A kapok has grown on the grave and its surroundings have been maintained for more than three centuries by the Fadiga family from Toutie to allow his descendants and also all the Muslims to visit it. The Mema FEBOUKE’s Mausoleum is situated at the village entrance coming from the village of Ganhoue. Fadiga Aboubakar Sidik, the one buried in this grave was known as a scholar because of his unwavering faith in Allah.

The Ouaninou cave

In the town of Ouaninou, the first inhabitants of the Mahou land used a cave as a passageway. The caves of Toutche as they are called connect Côte d’Ivoire to Guinea and are considered a tourist wealth.

The sacred fishes of Silakoro
Known as the last bulwark of the animist religion in the Mahou, the village of Silakoro is located 16 km from Touba and is famous for its pond full of Sacred Fishes. Silakoro catfishes are supposed to incarnate the soul of the ancestors. Consequently, the pond is a place of worship for the villagers.

The Blacksmiths of Yo
The village of Yo is located 5 km from Touba and became famous because of its blacksmiths. In this village, the visitor will discover the mystery of the forges.


Seguela
The secular mosque of Siana
Built in the Sudanese style with beaten earth and pure firewood also called banco in the 16th century by the Bakayoko family, this mosque which is one of the oldest in Côte d’Ivoire was restored in the 17th’s.

Bamboo craftsman of Siana

Using dried bamboo wood, those craftsmen are able to reproduce any kind of object from original size to miniature (furniture, toys, etc.). They are settled in other villages such as BOBI, Diarabana and provide a lot of useful objects made of raffia. Only machete and knife are the modern tools used in that manufacturing process.


The sacred fishes pond of Oussogoula
This pond is a sacred site crowded by populations because of its power of solving problems. It also witnesses regular thankfulness offerings from people who were satisfied after being there.

The Bobi diamond site

The village inhabitants made the artisanal exploitation of diamonds their main activity. Organized in GVC, the fruit of their labour benefits the whole village.


The sacred mountain of Massasso
From the top of this mountain you can have an impressive panoramic view on the lands and there is also a cave that once served as safe haven for the populations in case of an attack.

Mankono city and sub-prefecture

The Tondo
The Tondo is a site surrounded by cashew plantations and welcomes many visitors during the rainy season. This granite hill serves as natural slide. Leisure activities like swimming, tobogganing, and relaxation are practiced on it, as well as outings usually organized there.

The Kogolo Kawa
A reunion place for young people and girls from the locality for bathing parties. Several excursions to this location take place throughout the year.

The Doh
Traditional ceremony characterized by the performance of a sacred mask named ‘’DOH’’. He makes his appearance the day after the Tabaski festival.
