O Our tourist regions

The San-Pedro area

PRESENTATION

The district of Bas Sassandra includes the administrative regions of San Pedro, Nawa and Gbokle. This part of the country has the most beautiful beaches.

INFRASTRUCTURE

- The autonomous port of San Pedro

The Bas Sassandra district is one of the most rich district in the country, due essentially to the port of San Pedro, which is the second in Côte d'Ivoire after Abidjan’s. It  is also the world's first cocoa terminal. The port of San Pedro is the first worldwide cocoa exportator with more than half the Ivorian harvest (1.8 million tons) passing through the country.

- San Pedro Airport

San Pedro is served by the local company AIR COTE D'IVOIRE flights

This city is connected to others by three paved roads in the direction of Tabou, Soubré and Sassandra. However  San Pedro does not escape the syndrome of Ivorian cities regarding the roads: few roads are paved,  laterite roads. In Côte d’Ivoire, the cost of one kilometer of bitumen is on average estimated at 100 million CFA francs (about 152,500 euros).

POPULATION

The indigenous population is predominantly composed of krou people: Kroumen, Bété, Néyo, Bakwé…  also non natives coming  from other regions or countries, especially Baoulés, Dioulas and Burkinabese.
